Freight Forwarder – Rotterdam

Position information

About the role

As a Freight Forwarder at TGS Logistics you run your own portfolio of customers from start to finish. You take the enquiry, build the quote, book the carrier, arrange the customs formalities and keep the customer informed until the cargo is delivered. Because we’re a compact team, you aren’t one link in a long chain. You’re the person who owns the shipment.

You’ll work across sea, air and road, mainly on lanes between Europe and Asia, dealing directly with shipping lines, airlines, hauliers, overseas agents and customers. Quotes go out fast here, often within a couple of hours, so you’ll need to be comfortable making decisions with the information in front of you rather than waiting for perfect clarity.

What you’ll be doing

  • Handling enquiries and preparing competitive quotations across sea, air and road freight
  • Booking and monitoring shipments end to end, and solving the problems that come up in transit
  • Arranging import and export customs declarations for the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany
  • Negotiating rates and space with carriers, agents and hauliers
  • Building long-term relationships with your own accounts and spotting where they can grow
  • Keeping shipment data and documentation accurate in our system and in the TGS Portal

What you bring

  • MBO+ / HBO working and thinking level, ideally in logistics, supply chain or commercial economics
  • At least 2 years of experience in freight forwarding, where sea or air is a strong plus
  • Fluent Dutch and English. German is an advantage
  • Commercial instinct, a calm head when a shipment goes sideways, and the drive to own it yourself
  • Familiarity with customs formalities and forwarding software

What we offer

  • EUR 3.000 to EUR 4.200 gross per month, depending on experience
  • 25 holiday days, 8% holiday allowance, travel allowance and pension scheme
  • 32 to 40 hours per week, with room to arrange your own working pattern
  • A laptop and phone, and the flexibility to work from home part of the week
  • Real responsibility from day one and short lines to the people who make decisions
  • A budget for courses and certifications, whether that’s declarant training, dangerous goods or something else that moves you forward
  • Room to grow with a company that’s growing fast, and a team that actually eats lunch together
